Since 1987, Community Skills of Champlain Valley School District has been providing high school students with opportunities to learn job skills, explore post-secondary opportunities, develop independent living skills, and explore community connections. Our program, which is based at the high school, provides year-round services to students on Individual Education Plans (IEP). Our staff work closely with students, school-based teams, families, and adult service agencies to help students achieve their goals and get set for life!
Career Class: Learn how to find jobs, fill out applications, practice interview skills, and how to be a self advocate.
Transition Intensive: Built independent living skills, explore post-secondary education opportunities, learn about adult responsibilities like money management, and practice self advocacy skills.
Job Internships: Semester-long training in a job based on student strengths and interests.
Fall Work Crew: Students work in small groups to learn yard work and home maintenance
skills by helping others in and around our community.
Summer Internships: Employed students get the support they need to continue their jobs.
